Peter A Simonis, 58, of Defiance, passed away on  April 5, 2014 at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.

He was born on January 17, 1956 to Francis and Margaret (Beubien) Simonis in Defiance.  On May 28, 1977 he married Debra K. (Shawver) Simonis.

Pete was a Supervisor for Defiance County Environmental Services.  He was a member of  St. Mary's Catholic Church where he was an active Eucharistic minister.  He loved his church.  Pete was a 1974 graduate of Defiance High School & Four County Joint Vocational School.  He was a member of The Knights of Columbus #1039, F.O.E. #372, and AmVets #1991.  He was very patriotic.   Pete loved his family and spending time with his grandsons. He was a Nascar and Beatles fan.  Pete loved playing the piano and his K-9 companion, "Jade".

He is survived by his wife, Debra, children, Kimberly (Jeremy) Couts of Paulding, Jackie (Justin Corwin) Simonis of Defiance,  Dustin (Brittany Froelich) Simonis of Defiance, grandsons, Travis, Hunter, Conner & Izaac Couts, mother, Margaret Simonis of Defiance, siblings, Joe Simonis, Annette (Erwin) Schroeder, Pat (Mike) Vandermark, Jerry Simonis, and Greg Simonis all of Defiance, Mark (Amy) Simonis of Ayersville, and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Steve 'Moni' Simonis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m.  Thursday, April 10, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Randy Giesige officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m.Wednesday, April 09, 2014 at Schaffer Funeral Home where a Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

The family suggest memorials be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
