Pearl Germaine "Babe" Klingshirn, 89, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Hicksville, Ohio.
She was born on September 30, 1926 to Louis and Helen (Swary) Gustwiller at New Bavaria, Ohio. Pearl was a 1945 graduate of Defiance High School. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps, during the Korean War. She worked at Dinner Bell Foods, and the Crescent News. Babe was a life member of the VFW and the AmVets, and she was an avid bowler at Defiance Recreation.
Babe is survived by her daughters, Connie Klingshirn of Defiance, and Carol (James) Magoulas of Antwerp, son, Brian Klingshirn of Continental, sister, Anne "Honey" Reed of Fostoria, sister, Alberta "Berta" Wenzinger of Continental, 11 Grandchildren, and 8 Great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Helen Gustwiller, sons, Bruce Klingshirn and Barry "Bear" Klingshirn, sisters, Pauline "Beanie" Thomas, Antoinette "Nettie" Wolff, Martha "Boots" Reineke, Ruth "Betsy" Steffel, and brothers, Alloyis "Boy" and Lavon "Feller" Gustwiller.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm at the funeral home on Saturday, October 17, 2015, with Pastor Alexander Magoulas officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens, with military graveside rites by VFW #3360.
