Pauline Ellen Coressel, 92, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, December 22, 2023 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance, OH. She was born on November 14, 1931 to the late Paul "Skip" and Agnes (Mohr) Skiver in Defiance, OH. Due to Pauline's mother passing away when she was only two years old, and her father remarried when she was five years old, she was raised by her Grandparents, Claude R. and Bessie (Wiseman) Skiver. On October 14, 1950 she married Paul Coressel in St. John Catholic Church, he preceded her in death on September 4, 2009. Pauline graduated from Defiance High School in 1949. She was a telephone operator for 18 years for the United Telephone Co. of Ohio (1952-1954 & 1966-1982), and also held numerous other jobs in her lifetime. Pauline dearly loved playing the piano, reading, crossword puzzles, knitting, and crocheting. She enjoyed giving piano lessons to all four grandchildren as well as others. Pauline dedicated 36 years of her life taking care of her husband, Paul, who suffered from Parkinson's Disease. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, and Christian Mothers and Altar Society. Pauline was a past board member of the National Parkinson Foundation Northwestern Region. Pauline is survived by her daughter, Marguerite (Virgil) Willitzer of Defiance, OH, son, Christopher (Marcy) Coressel of Holgate, OH, 4 grandchildren: Sally (Ted) Clark, David Willitzer, Rachael (Kent) Ruhe, and Nancy (Dan) Vollmer, 10 great grandchildren: Addi, Kaleb, Aubree, Kora and Rhett Ruhe, Franklin, George, Clara, and Lucy Clark, and Carson Vollmer, and a half-brother, David Skiver of Bath, MI. Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her twin granddaughters, Sara and Suzanne Willitzer, and a great grandson, Michael Vollmer. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023, 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio, with a Rosary Service at 9:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, 11:00 am at St. John Catholic Church in Defiance, Ohio, with Fr. David Cirata, officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Memory Gardens. Memorials are suggested to St. John Catholic Church or St. Mary Catholic Food Pantry.
