(Hohenberger) Goliver
July 1, 1944 – April 1, 2018
Paulene M. Goliver, 73, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on July 1, 1944 to Richard and Helen (Steingass) Hohenberger in Defiance. She was a graduate of Ayersville High School, and earned her Registered Nursing License from Mercy School of Nursing. On July 24, 1965 she married Charles F. Goliver, who preceded her in death on December 23, 2012. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ. Paulene worked for 52 years as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Mercy Defiance Clinic in the Internal Medicine Practice, Urgent Care and Pulmonary Subspecialty Clinics. She also worked at Campbell's Soup Company and General Motors, and she was an assistant coroner for the Defiance County Coroner's Office for over 42 years. She was a Public Safety Instructor, and she volunteered at Four County Career Center. Paulene loved being outdoors, traveling with her friends, and spending time with her family. She always put the needs of others before herself, had a cheerful disposition and a smile to share, even on her most difficult days. Paulene had many good friends and colleagues, and she will be greatly missed by so many that loved her. Paulene is survived by her two sons, Dr. Chris (Barb) Goliver of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Shawn (Andrea) Goliver of Defiance, grandchildren; Dr. Jake (Rachel) Goliver, Kathryn Goliver of Burlington, Elijah Goliver, and Isaiah Goliver of Defiance, great-granddaughter, Elsa Goliver of Sylvania, Ohio, sister, Marlene Johnson of Defiance, and brother, Bill Hohenberger of Defiance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Goliver. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 6, 2018, and from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 7th at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Jody Van Dyke officiating. Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences can be given at www.Schafferfh.com.
