Paula S. Johnson, age 85 of Defiance, peacefully passed away at home with her family by her side on Monday, July 1, 2024.

She was born in Defiance, Ohio on March 25, 1939, to the late Paul and Grace (Buntain) Mansfield. Paula was a graduate of Defiance High School. On July 21, 1956, she married Bill Johnson, who survives.

Paula was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church. She worked as a cook at Northeastern Local Schools for over 25 years. She enjoyed cooking and baking and could bake anything perfectly. For over 40 years, she loved camping trips with her family in Indiana and Michigan. Paula was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved her time spent with her family. She was all about the babies and her dogs, sadly leaving behind her canine friend "Cookie".

Paula is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Bill Johnson of Defiance, and her children, Kelly (Corky) Greenwald of New York, Kevin (Brenda) Johnson, and Karla (Ralph) Brown, all of Defiance. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ben (Becky), Andy, Aaron, Matt (Andrea) Carly (Joe), Tiana (Doug), Shawna (Ryan), Krista (Chad), Mark (Christy), Kayla (Billy), Zachary, Zane, lots of great-grandchildren, her sisters, Ann Kline of Ney and Kim (Kenny) Brown of Defiance, her brother, Bobby (Sue) Mansfield of Sherwood, sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Nick) Sterling and Delethia (Dale) Ward, and brothers-in-law, Buford Johnson and Rodney (Wilma) Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Grace Mansfield, sister, Joan (Bud) Cereghin, sisters-in-law Patty (Dib) and Judy, and brother-in-law, Bob Kline.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating. Paula will be laid to rest at Riverview Memory Gardens.

Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church, CHP Defiance Hospice, or Good Samaritan School.
