Paul A. Travis Sr., 89, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance, OH.

He was born on February 23, 1937 to Herbert and Luella (Baden) Travis in Defiance, OH. On February 23, 1959 he married Jackie Burke, who preceded him in death on March 20, 2026.

Paul was a member of the Napoleon Eagles. He was an individual that loved to tinker with or build anything, even building a 4-wheel drive tractor before they existed. Paul owned and operated his own trucking company, Travis Trucking, for many years, and was a lifelong farmer in the Defiance County area. He and his wife, Jackie, also partnered together to operate The Happening Bar in rural Defiance, before owning and operating The Brewery in Napoleon and the Big 6 Truck Stop near Archbold. Paul enjoyed any time spent with family and being outdoors loving nature and all animals. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends..

Paul is survived by his seven children, Arlene (Keith) Cordes, Paul (Deandra) Travis, Jr., Bill (Debbie) Travis, Debbie (Greg) Weddelman, Herbert Travis, Michelle (Terry) Ames, and Lori Travis, Many Grandchildren, and Many Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jackie M. Travis, and a sister, June Sanders.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio, with services immediately following at 12:00 pm with Minister David Wachtman officiating.

Burial will take place in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Fort Defiance Humane Society or any animal rescue center of the donor's choice.
