Paul Joseph Hetz, 89, of Defiance passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born in Defiance on July 8, 1928 to George and Bridget (Smith) Hetz.  Paul was a 1946 graduate of Defiance High School.  He was a truck driver for several local trucking companies.

Paul is survived by his special companion Hazel Kleinhenn of Napoleon, sister Mary Shannon of Defiance,  several nieces and nephews, and his "adopted family" Jim and Tom Kleinhenn of Defiance, Susie Deany of Deshler, and Becky Snyder of Napoleon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Hetz, sister Dorothy Meyer and Connie (Kleinhenn) Wolfrum..

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 9:00 until 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance.  A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. John Catholic Church, with Father Eric Mueller officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance.
