Patsy A. Gilligan, 76, of Defiance, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. She was born on April 28, 1946 to Martin and Vera (Rhody) Gilligan in Napoleon, Ohio. Patsy earned her Bachelor's Degree from Defiance College. She worked as a secretary for Defiance Precision Products for 35 years, then for Chief Supermarket as a cashier for 12 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church inDefiance. Patsy enjoyed bingo, reading, and crossword puzzles. She also loved spending time with her family, especially taking her nieces on road trips across the country. Patsy is survived by her sister, June Elliott of Edgerton, OH, sister-in-law Mary Gilligan of Defiance, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Martin P. Gilligan, William Kurtz and Robert Kurtz, and her sister, Linda Compton. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel, (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. There will be no funeral service. A Private Graveside Service at Riverside Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Friends of Felines in Defiance, or to a charity of the donor's Choice.
