Obituary

Our beloved sister, Patricia Ann Cook of Whitehouse, Ohio passed away in peace on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Pat was born on July 19, 1948 to John E. and Josephine Kissner in Defiance, Ohio. After graduation she attended St. Francis College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and received her degree in Elementary Education. Patricia married Floyd "Ginger" Cook in 1969 and had a son, Andrew John.

She is survived by her son, Andrew Cook of New Mexico, four grandchildren, sister-in-law, Rita Kissner of Defiance, sisters, Marnie (Bill) Johnson of Manitou Beach, MI, Mary (Harold) Miller of Cincinnati, her brother, Joseph (Melissa) Kissner of Toledo, and many nieces and nephews. Pat is preceded in death by her parents, John and Josephine Kissner, her brother John, and sisters Jan (Bob) Miller and Suzanne (Jim) Lenhart.

Pat taught Elementary Education for nearly 30 years in Ft. Wayne Indiana. Mrs. Cook's students loved and appreciated her through the years and continually received notes of thanks for all her caring, kindness, and encouragement they received. She taught many children how to read, as well as one of her favorite nephews, Jake. She was also, of course, an avid reader herself. When Pat retired from her teaching career, she enjoyed volunteering at the M.S. Society of greater Toledo, taking part in many fundraising walks through the years.

Nothing can replace the loss of a sister, and our precious sister Pat was an amazing woman. She loved her family and always wanted to keep those bonds close. We will miss her sweet and detailed stories of our many adventures as kids growing up with seven children in the family, Baltimore trips, and awesome lake vacations, reunions and numerous family holidays. Pat was a wonderful listener who you could talk to about all matters. She was patient, kind, and gave the best advice with compassion. She enjoyed many memories with her best friend, Janie Baker Gibler, and travels with her friend Allen.

A great faith she had enduring any suffering with smiles and hope. Pat had a remarkable trust in our Lord and a most positive attitude always about her journey in life. We will miss her forever.

A Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 am St. Michael's Ridge Catholic Church, with a luncheon following the service.
