Patricia A. Ryan, 89, of Defiance, passed away on  April 27, 2017 at the CHP In-Patient Hospice Center, Defiance.

She was born on June 20, 1927 to Victor and Matilda (Goller) Hoeffel in Defiance, OH. Patricia worked as a hair dresser and was a homemaker.  On April 22, 1950 she married Robert J. Ryan.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Altar Rosary Society, Choir, Noodle Club and worked in the  school cafeteria.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband Robert of 67 years; sons, Timothy (Deborah) Ryan of Sylvania, OH, Mark (Wendy) Ryan, Edward (Theresa) Ryan and Bruce (Julia) Ryan all of  Defiance; daughters, Rebecca (Anthony) Saxton of Defiance, and Karen (Michael) Sauber of St. Augustine, FL; brothers, David (Mary Louise) Hoeffel of Defiance, and Thomas Hoeffel of Sartell, MN.  Patricia also adored her 9 grandchildren, Jennifer, Erica, Nathan, Elisha, Ajalyn, Kristin, Tiffany, Amy, and Emilee; and 13 great-grandchildren, Levi, Collin, Desi, Carter, Brynn, Bailey, Alexa, Alyson, Makayla, Silas, Nehemiah, Everleigh, and Ellamae.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Phillip Hoeffel.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 30, 2017, 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance with a Vigil service at 2:00 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017, 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, Defiance, with Father Randy Giesige officiating.

Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the CHP Hospice Center, or to St. Mary's Food Pantry.
