Patricia Ann Yocom, 72, of Defiance, lost her battle with leukemia and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance. She was born on August 12, 1943 to George and Sylvia (Steiner) Friesel in Toledo, Ohio. Patricia worked at Handy &  Harman Manufacturing in Archbold, and she volunteered at The Hope Chest. She loved to read and spend time with her granddaughter Tisha, whom she often cared for. They enjoyed the park, pools, board games, card games, and hide and seek. Patricia will be sadly missed by her daughter, Shelby (Chuck) Martinez of Defiance, son Gary Yocom (Michele Maxwell) of Altamonte Springs, Florida, her best friend, Patsy Whetro-Cole of West Unity, Ohio, and three grandchildren, Sara, Chaz and Tisha. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvia and George Friesel, and four siblings. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the funeral home, with Rev. Donald L. Luhring officiating. Memorials are suggested to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
