Paris Thacker, 79, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio.
He was born on June 14, 1936 to James and Draxie Thacker in Millard, Kentucky. He married Margaret (Epling) Thacker, who proceeded him in death.
Paris was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked as a plumber with Richard Lockmiller, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Defiance Moose Lodge.
Paris is survived by his sons, Ricky (Judith) Thacker of Lexington, Kentucky,James (Joyce) Thacker of Oscoda, Michigan, 3 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, brothers, Willard Thacker of Defiance, and Allen Thacker of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, sisters, Fannie Adkins of Defiance, Irene Epling, Christine Kendrick, and MayDean Hall, all of Pikeville, Kentucky, niece Mary McGuire of Defiance, and a special friend, Dorothy Lang.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and, Draxie Thacker, wife, Margaret Thacker, grandson, Christopher Thacker, brothers, Ival Thacker and Jessie Thacker, sister, Cory Thacker, and a special friend, Frances Koch.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 pm at the funeral home, with Rev. Michael J. Kaufman Sr. officiating. Additional services will be held in Pikeville, Kentucky at Thacker Memorial Funeral Services. Visitation in Kentucky will begin on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 6:00 pm, with the funeral service starting at 12:00 pm on Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Thacker Cemetery, Pikeville KY.
