Opal E. Greiner Opal E. Greiner, 88, of Defiance, passed away Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 peacefully at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born in Continental, Ohio on November 12, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Margaret (Yetter) Williams. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Opal was the widow of Ira Greiner. She worked as a cafeteria worker at Defiance City Schools for 24 years retiring in 1989. She was a life member of the VFW and Eagles. Opal loved being with her family, grand kids and playing cards. She was also a dog lover, especially of Porky and Heidie. Surviving are a daughter: Brenda Clady of Defiance, sons: Rick (Cindy) Porter of Defiance and Tom (Greta) Porter of Defiance. Grandchildren: Karie Clady, Kristan Clady, Tyler Clady, Brian Porter, step grandchildren: Ben Fillman, Bill Fillman, Lisa McBroom, Henry Marksch IV, Dustin Marksch, Melody Kosnik, Shelly Franz., great grandchild: Landon Dunson, step great grandchildren: Chrystal and Athea Fillman, Timmy, Kathlyn and Marissa Franz. A special cousin Alvin Brinkman of Defiance and many extended family members. Preceded in death by a brother Otha Williams. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28th. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 Thursday at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home. A rosary service will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens Suggested memorials are to CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice.
