Omaira Vega Torres, 45, of Defiance, passed away on April 3, 2015 at the Defiance Regional Medical Center.

She was born on June 28, 1969 to Angel L.and Ernesta "Taty"(Otero) Vega in Puerto Rico. On July 27, 1991 she married Gilbert Torres.   Omaira was a former supervisor at the Defiance General Motors Powertrain. She was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Michigan Wolverines.  She was a member of St. John Catholic Church,and loved her dogs Tiny, Rico, and Divo. She also enjoyed boating and camping.

Omaira is survived by her loving husband Gilbert Torres of Defiance, OH, a son, Daniel A. Torres of Defiance,and a daughter, Aleni C. Torres of Defiance, brothers, Luis (Alicja) Vega of Goose Creek, SC, and Oscar A. (Peggy) Vega of Archbold, OH, sisters, Carmen (Nelson) Vega-Perez of Toledo, OH, and Silkia Vega of Defiance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Hector Vega, and a sister Nilsa "Jenny" McClone.

Visitation will be held  at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 2-8 pm with a vigil service at 3 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015  at 11:00 am at St. John Catholic Church with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Defiance, Ohio
