NormaLinda Valenzuela, age 62 of Holgate, Ohio, passed away on  Sunday, August 27, 2023 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. She was born on April 16, 1961 to the late Jose Jr. and Irene (Medrano) DeLeon in Weslaco, Texas. Norma was a 1979 graduate of Stryker High School. On June 11, 1979 she married Candelario Valenzuela Jr. who survives.

Norma worked for several years at Sauder Woodworking in Archbold, Ohio. She enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandkids, and dancing with her husband. Norma will be greatly missed by her loving husband Candelario Valenzuela Jr. of Holgate, OH, her children; Bianca (Adam) Escamilla of Holgate, OH, Alicia (Sandy) Valenzuela of Las Vegas, NV, and  Candelario (Belinda) Valenzuela, III of Holgate, six grandchildren; Emiliano Gonzales, Amaya Gonzales, Talya Escamilla, Alicia Escamilla, Selena Valenzuela and Candelario R. Valenzuela IV, one great-grandson, Amias Candelario Zipfel, and her brothers, Gerardo DeLeon of Bowling Green, OH and Ricardo DeLeon of Defiance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jose III, Eduardo and Gonzalo DeLeon. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home South, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Memorial gifts in Norma's honor may be gifted to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
