Nina L. Sickbert, age 88 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on March 30, 1935 to the late William and Edith (Osborn) Sturm. In 2009 she married Victor Sickbert, who preceded her in death in 2013. Nina was a member of Church of Christ in Huntingburg, Indiana. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for the State of Indiana for several years until her retirement. Nina always kept busy and wasn't afraid of any hard work. Her hobbies included flowers, gardening, birds, jigsaw puzzles, crafting and needlepoint. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Nina is survived by her daughter, Pamela A (Chris) Bowers of Defiance, four grandchildren; Julie  (Shawn Wilson) Bowers of Perrysburg, OH, Brian (Angela) Bowers of Defiance, Leah Bowers of Defiance, and Ethan (Courtney Stuart) Bowers of Toledo, OH, and three great-grandchildren; Zachary and Seth Wilson and Hadleigh Bowers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William Dean White, and granddaughter, Andrea Michelle Bowers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 10:00 am  to 12:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A private graveside service will be held in Patoka, Indiana. Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Area Hospice Center.
