Neal Edward Carpenter, 57, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.  He was born on June 27, 1955 to Bernard and Glenna (Mabee) Carpenter in Defiance, OH. On May 30, 1976 he married Nancy Smith.

He was a 1972 graduate of Ayersville High School and a member of Second Baptist Church of Defiance. Neal retired as crew leader from John Manville after 39 years where he held a variety of positions.  He was Union Steward up until the end.  He loved his Harley and was very involved with his grandkids.  Neal enjoyed sports and camping.

Neal is survived by his daughter, Heidi Brinkman of Defiance, grandchildren, Dustyn Hitchcock & Kathleen Hitchcock, both of Defiance.

He was preceded in death by his parents & his wife of almost 36 years, Nancy, and a son in infancy, Neal Carpenter, Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday May, 30th, 2013, at 11:00AM in the Second Baptist Church, Defiance. with Rev. Max Begley officiating. Luncheon to follow the memorial service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service starting at 10:00AM.

Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia Society and/or to CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.
