(Roberts) Ritterling
August 28, 1934 – September 21, 2025
Myrna (nee Roberts) Ritterling passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025. She was born to Ellis and Helen Roberts on August 28, 1934. She graduated from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, Ohio and from Capitol University in Columbus, Ohio with a Bachelors of Education. She married Norman Ritterling on June 4, 1954. She went on to receive her Masters of Education from Bowling Green State University.
A gifted musician, Myrna worked as an organist at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Riverview, Michigan. She was a teacher at Napoleon High School in Napoleon, Ohio, a principal at Liberty Center High School in Liberty Center, Ohio, and served as the superintendent of schools for Liberty Center School District. She loved nature and greatly enjoyed wildflowers, music, playing cards and NASCAR.
A lifelong Christian and student of the Holy Bible, Myrna even taught herself Greek so that she could have a better understanding of Holy Scripture. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Defiance, Ohio.
Myrna was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother. Her grandchildren were a wonderful source of joy for her.
She leaves this earth to Eternal Life following her beloved husband, Rev. Norman; her brother, David Roberts; her sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and David Polsdorpher; her sister-in-law, Cathy Roberts; her son-in-law, Jon Blake.
Waiting to join her are her daughters, Ruth Blake of Defiance and Marc and Margaret Beach of Defiance; brother Nelson Roberts of Toledo; three grandchildren: Sarah Weller (Matt), Katie Beach and Christopher Beach, great-grandson Weller, and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Eric Moquin officiating. Myrna will be laid to rest in Toledo Memorial Park.
Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Endowment Fund, or Concordia Fort Wayne Theological Seminary.
