Mildred "Mig" Virginia Wire, 88, of Defiance, passed away on  Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Glenn Park of Defiance.

She was born on March 12, 1925 to Fred and Viola (Fair) Slough in Defiance. She married Eugene Killion in 1947 and he passed away in 1954. In 1976, Mig married James Wire and he passed away in 2002.

Mig was a member of  St. Paul's United Methodist Church and its Wesleyan Circle. She graduated from Sherwood High School, and worked at the Compo Corporation as a secretary; later she worked in the Defiance County Auditor's office until retirement.  Mig was also an award winning quilter.

Mig is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Larry) Fillinger of Defiance, son, Thomas (Pamela) Killion of Toledo, grandchildren, Eric (Annabell) Fillinger of Grand Rapids, MI, Kate Killion of Toledo, Elizabeth Killion of Toledo, sister, Mary Fronk of Defiance, step-granddaughter, Nancy (Ryan) Spears of Defiance, step-sons, Keith (Kathy) Wire of Ada, OH, Gary (Deb) Wire of Tucson, AZ, and John (Sylvia) Wire of Napoleon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband, Eugene Killion, 2nd husband, James Wire, twin sons, Douglas & Steven Killion in infancy, brothers, Ted, John and Bill Slough, sisters, Mabel Butler, Bertha Smith and Lelah Clemens.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday, October 04, 2013 at Schaffer Funeral Home,  Defiance.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Donnally officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

The family suggest memorials be made to Friends of Felines or to a charity of the donor's choice.
