Mildred May (Boyee) Austermiller was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, from the Glenn Park Assisted Living Facility, Defiance, Ohio.

She was born on October 5, 1920 in Defiance to Christian Frederick and Hettie May (Krotzer) Boyee. In 1938 she graduated from Defiance High School. On June 8, 1941 she married Lendell Alvin Austermiller, who preceded her in death. Together, they owned Austermiller's Foodland in Ayersville.

Known for her great sense of humor, contagious laughter and occasional snort, Mildred loved baking, reading, bird watching, crossword puzzles, playing cards and board games, and entertaining family and friends at her lake cottage. Many Ayersville youngsters will remember her for the homemade doughnuts she handed out at Halloween. She was an active member of Ayersville United Methodist Church and Eastern Star.

Mildred loved her family, which included six children: Judy (Warren Betty) Austermiller, Cape May, NJ; Janet (Jerry) Stevens, Ayersville, OH; Joni (Thom) Lorenz, Hillsdale, MI; Jeri Kemmer, Penn Valley, CA; Jim (Denise) Austermiller, Ayersville, OH; Jeff Austermiller, Penn Valley, CA; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clifton Boyee and Donald Boyee, and a grand-daughter, Jina (Stevens) Flory.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, December 26 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Ayersville United Methodist Church, prior to a memorial service at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Clarence Dinnen officiating and Schaffer Funeral Home handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Ayersville United Methodist Church or Community Health Professionals - Visiting Nurses.
