Michelle M. Retcher, 65, of Defiance, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. She was born on January 22, 1956 to Aloysius and Twyla (Keller) Hoeffel in Defiance, Ohio. On September 10, 1982 she married Michael Retcher, who survives. Michelle was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Eagles #372, Moose Lodge #2094, and was a life member of VFW #3360 Auxiliary. She worked for several years as a Home Health Aide. She loved to host family meals, especially during the holidays, and did all the cooking. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, and gardening. Michelle was a wonderful and caring wife and mother, and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Michelle is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Michael Retcher of Defiance, her children, Amanda  (Cody Rhodes) Retcher of Paulding, OH, and Bradley (Kali) Retcher of Sherwood, OH, and her sister, Judith (Robert) Hasch of Sherwood, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Marty Hoeffel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, Ohio. Due to CDC guidelines, if you are not fully vaccinated, a mask is required to enter the funeral home, and our lounge area will remain closed. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Isidore Catholic Church, with Fr. Melwin Dsouza officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Stephens Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. John's Catholic Church, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
