Michael D. Turpening, 27, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.

He was born on July 7, 1988 to Dean Turpening and Elissa (Spoerl) Crigger in Grayling, Michigan. On November 8, 2011 he married Sadie (Ambil) Turpening, who survives with their beloved sons; Bentley and Jackson. Michael was a huge Chicago Bears and Michigan football fan. He loved roughhousing with his brothers, and spending time with his boys.

Michael will be greatly missed by his family, his parents, Craig and Elissa Crigger of Defiance, and Dean Turpening of Pemberville, Ohio, wife Sadie Turpening of Defiance, sons Bentley and Jackson Turpening of Defiance, siblings Emily (Leonardo) Rosa, Joseph (Cindy) Turpening, Noah Crigger, and Taylor Crigger, all of Defiance, many nieces and nephews, grandparents Paula Spoerl of Defiance, Donald (Betty) Crigger of Defiance, and Bonnie (Dan) Horner of Bowling Green.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Richard Turpening and Howard Spoerl.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, and for one hour prior to services. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the funeral home, with Pastor Kyle Brownlee officiating.
