Michael "Mike" Patterson, age 78 of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Mercy Defiance Hospital.

He was born in Napoleon, Ohio on December 4, 1946 to the late Kenneth and Catherine (Holmes) Patterson. Mike was a 1964 graduate of Defiance High School. On May 31, 1969 he married Beth (Mumy) Patterson who preceded him in death on January 30, 2025. Mike proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 to 1968 during the Vietnam War.

Mike was a life member and was very involved with VFW #3360, and a member of Defiance Elks Lodge #147, Eagles #372 AmVets #1991 and Napoleon American Legion #300. He was extremely proud to be active with the Honor Guard. Mike and Beth enjoyed working together as owners of Mercury Cleaners in Defiance for over 30 years until his recent retirement. Mike was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and enjoyed fishing, traveling and taking cruises with his wife, enjoying lake life at Hamilton Lake, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his sons, Brad Patterson of Defiance and Kevin (Amy Rosebrock) Patterson of Napoleon, his grandchildren, Stefan (Tasha) Patterson and Lindsay Patterson, three great-grandchildren, and his sisters, Janis (Larry) Thomas and Cindy Patterson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Mike will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery with graveside military honors conducted by VFW #3360.

Memorials are suggested to Wounded Warriors, Honor Flight, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
