Michael G. Jorkos, 25, of Stryker, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014 in Columbus, OH.

He was born on October 20, 1988 to George Jr and Connie (Hammersmith) Jorkos at Toledo, OH. Michael served as an Infantryman in the US Army.

He was a member of Life Member VFW Post #3360, St. John Catholic Church, a 2011-2012 US Army veteran serving a combat tour of duty in Afghanistan as an infantryman earning the Army Commendation Medal. Michael was currently serving in the Ohio Army National Guard COA1-148th-INRGT.

Michael is survived by his Father and stepmother, George and Michelle Jorkos Jr. of Stryker, OH, Mother, Connie Jorkos of Denver, CO, 2 sisters, Lindsay Jorkos of Denver, CO, and Megan Jorkos of Reynoldsburg, OH, Girlfriend, Carly Kasberg of Reynoldsburg, OH, Step-sister, Amber Morris of Toledo, OH, 2 step-brothers, Joey Bodenbender of Camp Pendelton, CA, and Brad Bodenbender of Bryan, OH, Grandfather, George Jorkos Sr. of Defiance, OH, and Grandmother, Delores Jean Jorkos of Defiance, OH.

He was preceded in death by Grandparents, Donald and Janice Hammersmith, and an uncle, Ronald Louis Jorkos.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio .

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at 11:00 am in St John's Catholic Church, Defiance, Ohio, with Father Todd Dominique, officiating.

Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery Veteran's Section.

The family is asking to please make memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project in lieu of flowers.
