Melvin J. Myers, 72, of Oakwood, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on March 6, 1942 to Ancel and Mildred (Coil) Myers in Paulding, OH. On June 27, 1998 he married Judith Warnke.

Melvin worked for Johns Manville and also farmed. He loved farming, fishing and attending auctions.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Judith, mother, Mildred, children, Craig (Judy) Myers of Russellville, AR, Theresa (Tom) Allsup of Jacksonville, FL, Michelle Myers of Oakwood, Anita Ijere of Jackson, MI, June (Jeff) Richard of Jewell, Tamera (Jeff) Hagerman of New Bavaria, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, siblings, Madaline (Paul) Rosebrock of NC, Martin (Penny) Myers of AZ, Marion Myers of Napoleon, Rolland (Judy) Myers of Oakwood, Robert (Gloria) Myers of Cecil, Marsha (Eddie) Shrider of MI, Keith (Pam) Myers of Oakwood, Roger Myers of Defiance, Jan (Mark) Peck of New Reigel, OH.

He was preceded in death by his father, sister, Marilyn Wiseman, brother, Eddie Myers, son, Michael Myers and a granddaughter, Katrina Perez.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance with Rev. Larry Kennedy officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Community Health Professionals of Paulding/Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choice.
