Maximo  Martinez, 76, of Defiance, passed away on Thursay, April 18, 2013 in St. Vincent's Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH.

He was born on May 10, 1936 to Andres and Maria (Ortiz) Martinez in Corrozal, Puerto Rico. In 1966  he married Elba (Rosado) Martinez.

Maximo is survived by his loving spouse of 47years, Elba, daughters, Nilda (Carlos) Quintero of Defiance,  Maritza Martinez of Defiance, sons, Robert (Monica) Martinez of Defiance,  Daniel Martinez of Defiance,  sisters, Erminia (Marcelo) Ortiz of Puerto Rico, Francisca Martinez of Kissimee, FL, brothers, Juan (Genoveba) Martinez of Puerto Rico, Antonio Martinez of Puerto Rico,  Reyes (Ester) Martinez of New York, NY, Pedro (Mildred Roman) Martinez of Tampa, FL, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, & 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Teofila Rievra.

Maximo moved to Defiance in 1962 and worked for 13 years at Multicast in Wauseon. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 11:00 am at the  funeral home with Rev. Arnulfo DeAnda officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery

Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude's Children Hospital.
