Matthew P. Coressel, age 60 of Defiance, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital.

He was born in Defiance on May 25, 1965 to the late James and Virginia (Miller) Coressel. Matt was a 1983 graduate of Tinora High School. On March 7, 1987 he married Stacy Hahn, who survives.

Matt worked as an Electrician for 25+ years for Gustwiller Electric. He took great pride in his work and loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandkids. He will be sadly missed and always remembered by his family and many good friends.

Matt is survived by his loving wife Stacy Coressel of Defiance, his daughters, Amanda (Juan) Serratos, Amber (Gregory) King, and Brittany (Logan) Feffer, six grandchildren, his siblings, Deb (Bob) Leopold, Wayne (Joyce) Coressel, Denise (Harry) Cramer, and Keith Coressel, and two sisters-in-law, Denise Coressel and DeEtte Coressel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe and Jim Coressel, his sister Diane Szabo, and sister-in-law, Janice Coressel.

A Celebration of Life will be held at his residence, 23143 Banner School Road in Defiance, on Monday, May 25th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Area Hospice, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
