Mary J. Mehring, 65, of Defiance, passed away on  Saturday, January 31, 2015 at CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio.

She was born on July 6, 1949 to Lester and Lodilla (Herr) Schmunk in Defiance, Ohio. In 1970 she married Victor L. Mehring, who proceeded her in death in 1992.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, was a Nursery Mother for 10 years, and was active in the Altar Guild. Mary enjoyed time spent with family and friends.

Mary is survived by her son, James "Jamie" (LeeAnn) Mehring of Stryker, step daughters, Vickie Ann Osbourne of Florence, SC, and Vicki Landry of Live Oak, FL, step son, Danny Mehring of Cross Creek, FL, sisters, Charlotte Florence, Ruth (Sam) Strable, and Peggy (Gary) Stork, all of Defiance, Grandchildren, Kierstyn Mehring, Lelah Mehring, Kaden Mehring, Alex Mehring, Arlyn Mehring, and many other Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Lodilla Schmunk, husband, Victor L Mehring, and brother, Donald Schmunk.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 6, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance, with Rev. Joshua Schmidt, officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
