Mary A. Seibert, 65, of Ayersville, passed to the arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born in Napoleon, Ohio on September 6, 1952 to Charles F. and Marcella R. (Gunter) Rice. Mary graduated from Ayersville High School in 1970. In 1970 she attended Bowling Green School of Practical Nursing, and graduated in 1971, fulfilling her dream of helping others.

Mary married Mark J. Seibert on July 27, 1974, who preceded her in death on August 21, 2007. Mary worked at Defiance Hospital for many years, and for the last 20 years at the Defiance County Health Department, retiring in 2011 for health reasons. She was an Associate for the Sisters of Notre Dame, who inspired in her a deep faith. She also volunteered for Defiance Red Cross, Defiance Hospital Auxiliary, Reach to Recovery with The American Cancer Society, Defiance Medical Reserve Corp, and at St. Mary Food Pantry. She was a former member of Highland Twp. Fire Department as an EMT, REMSNO Board in Toledo, OH, and she was a barn supervisor for Defiance County 4H Fair.

Mary was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Defiance, a member of the ladies Bible Study, and a "cleaning angel" and past Befriender Ministry member. All who knew Mary were inspired by her positive attitude, humor, and her faith. She enjoyed meeting with her Thursday night supper group, or just going to lunch with friends. She loved to travel and she traveled internationally and nationally. She especially loved her "Bus Trip" family.

Mary will be greatly missed by her children; sons, Benjamin (Amanda) Seibert of Defiance, Paul "Spanky"  (Kendra) Seibert of Ayersville, and daughter, Sarah (Brad) Rosebrock, grandchildren; Joe, Addyson, Jacob, Stella, Ava, Mitchell and Anika, and her brother, Richard Rice of Cincinnati.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Ellen, and grandparents, Charles and Lydia Vonier, and Ammasa and Fay Gunter.

Visitation will be held  from 2-8 pm on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, and for one hour prior to services at the church. A Memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 29th at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. Eric Mueller officiating.
