Obituary

Mary C. Ankney, 84, of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born on July 31, 1932 to Galen and Thelma (Leatherman) Prowant in Dupont, Ohio. On November 30, 1950 she married Edward Ankney, Jr., who preceded her in death on November 25, 2006.

Mary was a member of  the Moose Lodge in Defiance She worked at Frisch's Big Boy, Winchester Restaurant, and Tip Top Restaurant in Defiance, and at Ames and Hills Department Stores.

Mary is survived by her son, David G. (Kay) Ankney of Fort Wayne, Indiana, daughters, Kathy (Charles) Rex of Silver Spring, Nevada,  and Sheila Ankney of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, brother, Rollie Prowant of Defiance, and sister, Vallerie Howard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward Ankney, Jr., son, Ray Prowant, and brother, Roger Prowant.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Shriner's Hospitals.
