Mary L. Frost, age 93 of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Mercy Defiance Hospital. She was born on January 1, 1929 to the late Ollie and Hazel (Hill) Layne in Defiance County, Ohio. Mary was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was active with the Women's Circle. She worked at Tip Top Restaurant for 17 years, and at Cabbage Patch Restaurant for 16 years. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mary was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen (Duane) Fluechtling of Lansing, IL, her son, Kenneth (June) Frost of Defiance, 6 grandchildren; Eric (Shannon) Frost, Megan (Benjamin) Roberts, Jennifer (Jared) Jacobs, Aaron (Martina) Frost, Drew Frost, and James (Ashley) Fluechtling and 9 great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her lifelong friend, Esther Reimund. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Kay E. Frost, and brother, Robert H. Layne. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the church, with Rev. David Brobston officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance County Hospice, or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
