Mary Frances Ricica, 84, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on her birthday on Monday, December 19, 2016 at The Laurels of Defiance.

She was born on December 19, 1932 to Joseph and Frances (Gazarek) Konecny in Defiance. On October 30, 1954 she married Louis J. Ricica, who preceded her in death on May 10, 1999.

Mary was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed listening to and dancing to polka music, visiting with her family, and attending her children's and grandchildren's school events.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Nancy (David) Meyer of Sherwood, Ohio, sons, Tom (Rita) Ricica of Defiance, Jim (Bonnie) Ricica of Defiance, Frank (Karen) Ricica of Toledo, Joe (Chris) Ricica of Defiance, and Bob (Audra) Ricica of Bryan, grandchildren;  Jennifer (Matt) Devereaux, Jeffery Ricica,  Amanda (Ryan) Kluczynski, Aaron, Alex, Olivia, and Paige Ricica, Scott and Sarah Meyer, Jeanean Iredale, and Mark Rothman, great-grandchildren;  Claire, Austin, and Allison, and brother, Joe Konecny of Defiance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Louis J. Ricica.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Vigil Service at 4:00 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Father Robert Kill officiating. Burial will  follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
