Mary M. Kohout
Mary M. Kohout, 95, of Defiance, passed away Saturday, March 24th, 2018 at Mercy Defiance Hospital E/R.
She was born in Edgerton, Ohio, on October 25, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Eva (Dietch) Herman.
Mary was a graduate of Edgerton High School and Bowling Green University. She had worked as the Paulding County Extension Agent and had taught Home Economics at Tinora Junior High for 17 years. She was a very active member of St. Mary Catholic Church including the CLC, Altar Society and funeral ministry. She enjoyed sewing and quilt making.
She married Richard J. Kohout November 26, 1949 and he died October 2, 2006.
Mary will be missed by her eight children:
Daughters: Rita (Charlie) Connelly of Ravenna, OH, Monica (Roger) Whiting of Custer, South Dakota, Peg (Dallas) Holladay of Napoleon,
Sons: Joe (Julie) Kohout of Napoleon, Bob (Kathy) Kohout of Defiance, Mike Kohout of Defiance, Don (Denise) Kohout of Capistrano Beach California, Tim (Denise) Kohout of Stryker
Brother: Edwin Herman of Edgerton.
She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, brother Ronnie Herman and a sister Lucille Seibert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Randy Giesige officiating.
Visitation is Tuesday 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home. 1753 S. Clinton St. Defiance. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation is also from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Suggested memorials are to St. Mary Catholic Church or Holy Cross Catholic School. Condolences may be shared at www.lawsonroessner.com
