Obituary

Mary Violet Joanne (Peterson) Martin Meyers, 89, of Defiance, passed away on  November 14, 2014 at her home in Twin Rivers, Defiance, Ohio.

She was born on March 11, 1925 to Newton and Dorothy (Bauer) Peterson in Defiance, OH. She attended school at Tiffin Township High School, then Defiance College earning her bachelors in education in 1946, and later attended Bowling Green State University for her Masters in Education. On September 30, 1945 she married Elmer Martin who preceded her in death on May 3, 1984. Mary later married Robert Meyers in 1986, and he passed on December 20, 1994.

Mary taught at Ayersville Schools for 40 years, retiring in 1986. She was a life member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Sunday School in Defiance, a member of the Defiance Eastern Star, and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association.

Mary is survived by her son-in-law, Thomas Aldrich of Hicksville, OH, sister, Hazelmae Partee of Archbold, OH, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Elmer Martin, second husband, Robert Meyers, daughter, Maribeth Aldrich, brother, Wendell Peterson, and sisters, Phyllis Brown, Beatrice Lloyd.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 18, 2014 from 4-8 PM at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Pastor Justin McCall, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Riverview Memory Gardens.
