Mary J. Decker, 90, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Mercy Hospital of Defiance. She was born on January 24, 1925 to Elmer and Laura (Grau) Hohenberger in Toledo, Ohio. Mary was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance. She worked for The Hubbard Company in Defiance for 27 years, retiring in 1994. She enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her friends, and playing cards. Mary will be sadly missed by her family; sons Kevin (Diana) Decker and Keith (Shelly) Decker of Defiance, daughters Diane (Thomas) Katana of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and  Rita (Vic) Steffel of Defiance, 7 Grandchildren, and 19 Great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Laura Hohenberger, and sister, Betty Sabo. Visitation will be held from  6 to 8 pm on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, and for one hour prior to services on Monday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Defiance County Hospice, or to a charity of the donors choice.
