Mary Jane Ellison, 79, of Defiance, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday morning, January 20, 2023. She was born on January 30, 1943 to the late Wilbur and Kathryn (Feeney) Baldwin in Defiance, Ohio. On September 19, 1964 she married Horace W. "Bill" Ellison Jr., who preceded her in death on August 15, 2020. Mary attended Paulding Church of the Nazarene. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, and she treasured her time spent with her family and grandchildren. Mary is survived by her children; Rodney (Marcia) Ellison of Edgerton, OH, Amy Ellison and Lana Ellison, both of Defiance, her granddaughters, Clarinda and Alisha Ellison, and her fur baby "Rebel". She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Kathryn Baldwin, her husband, Horace Ellison, Jr., her daughter, Jessica Ellison, two brothers, Eugene and Guy Baldwin, and three sisters, Linda Spears, Ellen Reed, and Charlene Schlegel. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at the funeral home, with Celebrant Carol Kurivial officiating. Burial will follow the service at Ayersville Cemetery.
