Marvin P. Bailey, 66, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at the Laurels in Defiance,Ohio.
He was born on April 18, 1948 to Don M. and Bonnie M. (Anderson) Bailey in Defiance. On December 23, 1966 he married Donna (Folk) Bailey who survives.
Marvin was a member of Bethel Christian Church in Arthur. He proudly served in the Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and was in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Marvin was a meat cutter at Chief Supermarket for 43 years, retiring in April, 2013. He enjoyed photography, and has taken more photos of the Mackinaw Bridge than anyone should be allowed. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and his family. He proudly served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and has led many to salvation. We know he was greeted at the gates of paradise by many family members and friends who have preceded him there.
Marvin is survived by his loving spouse of 48 years, Donna Bailey of Defiance, sons; Joel (Lisa) Bailey of Archbold, Nathan (Jill) Bailey of Defiance, daughters; Dawn (Greg) Bour of Defiance, Carrie (Duane) Romines of Woodburn, Indiana, sisters; Martha (Larry) Hardy of Adrian, Michigan, Mary (Ronnie) Pinckley of Bryan, Kathleen (David) Folk of Defiance, Rosalie (Terry) Shinabery of Defiance, and Eloise Bailey of Defiance. They have been blessed with 11 grandchildren and 19 nieces and nephews, and a faithful Bischon dog "Libby" who will miss him immensely.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Bonnie Bailey.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio, and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at the Bethel Christian Church in Arthur, Ohio,with Pastor Christopher Baker, officiating. Burial will take place in the Riverview Memory Gardens, where members of the Defiance VFW Post #3360 will accord military honors.
