Marvin L. Ankney, 79, of Defiance, died at the Toledo Hospital on Friday evening surrounded by his family. He was born in Defiance on January 5, 1936 to Victor & Juanita (Edwards) Ankney. On April 30, 1955 he married Sue Cereghin who preceded him in death on November 28, 2006.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy (Doug) Heller of Cecil, and Shelly Jackson of Hicksville. 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild and his dog, Missy. Preceding him in death were his parents, and wife.
Marvin was a bread vendor for Brown's Bakery in Defiance, and drove for the Defiance County Senior Center. Was a local member of the Teamsters', and Defiance Eagles. Marvin also enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance with the Rev. Donald L. Luhring officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-8 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed towards the Defiance Senior Center, or to the Defiance County Humane Society.
