Martha C. Vaughn, age 87 of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at home with her family by her side. She was born on January 6, 1936 to the late William and Frances (Povenmire) Maddock. Martha was married to Jimmie Ray Vaughn in 1969 until his death in 2004.

Martha was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, and ProMedica Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered at the Thrift Shop and The Coffee Cart. She worked at Campbell Soup Company in Napoleon, and was the owner and operator for Trailer Express. Martha is survived by her loving daughter, Karen (Ron) Tobias of Defiance, 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and her brothers, Roger (Emma) Maddock and Jerry Maddock, all of Defiance. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Kestner, her sons, Ronald John Schindler and Jimmie Ray Vaughn II, stepson, Raymond Vaughn, stepdaughter, Carolyn Vaughn-Saunders, and two great-grandsons, Ethan and Walker. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church, or Filling Home of Mercy in Napoleon.
