Marna L Powell, 84, of Defiance passed away early Saturday morning October 13, 2012 in the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born January 25, 1928 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and was the daughter of Ernest and Edith (Meads) Farrell.

On September 6, 1947 she married Richard Powell and he preceded her in death on MAy 1, 2007.

Marna is survived by a daughter, Sue (John) Baker of Ayersville, three sons; Richard (Coleen) Powell of Lithia, Florida, Gary (Lisa) Powell of Defiance, Kevin (Sharon) Powell of Mentor, Ohio, 12 Grandchildren and 10 Great grandchildren.

She has lived in Defiance for over 60 years. Marna was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and worked for 21 years for the Stauffer-Mendenhall Insurance Agency until her retirement in 1993. She attended regular meetings of the CCL for many years.

Marna is preceded in death by her parents and husband Richard.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 1:00pm in the St. John United Church of Christ with Rev. Sam Schroeder and Rev. Dr. Bill Nirote officiating.  Family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service starting at 11:00am on Tuesday.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Untied Church of Christ or CHP Hospice.
