Mark G. Shomsky, 60, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday morning March 28, 2019 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, surrounded by his family and with his wife by his side. He was born on March 16, 1959 to Albert and Jean (Chanavier) Shomsky in Detroit, Michigan. On September 29, 2009 he married Nicole (Sholl) Shomsky, who resides in Defiance.

Mark was a member of Defiance Eagles #372, UAW Local #211, and the Retiree Club. He worked for several years at General Motors in Defiance until his retirement in  2008. Mark will be sadly missed by his family and many good friends. Mark is survived by his wife, Nicole Shomsky, his mother, Jean Shomsky, three sons, Brandon (Paige Branham) Shomsky, Christopher Shomsky, and  Landon Shomsky, daughter, Samantha (Jamie) Hicks, stepdaughter, Lydia (Anthony) Mezo, nine grandchildren, two brothers, James (Jackie) Shomsky and David (Suzanne) Shomsky, and three sisters, Lynne (Mark) Caruso, Paula Stanko, and Geri (Craig) Drys. In addition to his father, Albert, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Shomsky. There will be no visitation or services. Schaffer Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
