Marjorie A. "Marge" Patten, 85, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice in Defiance, Ohio. A cancer survivor, she had been in failing health for the last several months.

Born on February 14, 1937 to Ora and Elvera (Foss) Boggs in Defiance, she graduated from Defiance High School in 1955 and attended Riverside School of Nursing before marrying Jan R. Patten on July 14, 1957. During their marriage, Marge and Jan owned Patten's Flowers and Gifts for 24 years.

Marge was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Defiance Elks Lodge #147 and the Defiance College Marathon Bridge Club, as well as many other bridge groups. She was an avid golfer and bowler and loved the outdoors, landscaping, all animals and especially her family.

Daughter Deb (Todd) Hall of Defiance and her son Jeff (Kelly) Patten of West Unity, OH are among her survivors. Marge also leaves six grandchildren, Ryan (Melanie Hampton) Patten of Ketchikan, Alaska, Justin Patten of Bryan, OH, Shawn (Ashley Cunningham) Patten of Luna Pier, MI, Tosha (Todd) Moyer of Archbold, OH, Kyle (Abby Snyder) Nester of Columbus, OH, and Katy (Zak) Kirkendall of Napoleon, OH, seven great-grandchildren with one expected soon,  brother Dale Boggs of New Haven, IN, and niece Sunny (Jeff) Starchera of Ft. Wayne, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Carl A. Sixeas, her husband Jan, and a sister-in-law Lana Boggs of New Haven, IN.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance from 10:00 to 12:00 noon. In keeping with Marge's wishes, graveside services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be gives to CHP Defiance Hospice, Ft. Defiance Humane Society, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be given at www.Schafferfh.com.
