Marian Elizabeth Smart, 86, formally of Defiance, Ohio passed away on  February 24, 2013 at the Vanderbilt Adult Hospital in Nashville, TN.

She was born on May 8, 1926 to Cleo "Pete" and Marvel (Rice) Stambaugh in Continental, OH. She attended school at Continental High School for 12 years and Miami of Ohio for 4 years. On August 28, 1948, she married Harry Eugene Smart.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church & choir, University Women's Club, Defiance Hospital Bazaar, she volunteered at the Defiance Public Library & Defiance College, & was a member of Eastern Star.

Marian is survived by her sons, Pete Smart & Steve Smart both of Hermitage, TN, grandson, Jonathan Barth of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, grandson, Alexander Jacob Fabian of Lawton, OK.

She was preceded in death by husband, Harry Eugene Smart, father, Cleo "Pete" Stambaugh, mother, Marvel M. Rice, daughters, Cynthia Sue Smart, Cathy Lynn Smart, brother, Tom Stambaugh.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013, 11:00 am at the Riverside Cemetery, Defiance, Ohio, with  Clarence Dinnen officiating.
