Obituary

Marilyn Jane Wiseman, 74, of Defiance, passed away on  Wednesday, August 7, 2013 after a brave battle with cancer at the CHP Defiance In-Patient Hospice Center.

She was born in rural Oakwood on September 23rd, 1938 to the late Ancel Myers and Mildred (Coil) Myers of Oakwood.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 48 years, Leo "Pete" Wiseman, her beloved children, Jodie Whiteford Mohr, John Whiteford, Charles (Lynn) Whiteford and Patricia Wiseman-Mobley, all of Defiance.  She also leaves four precious grandchildren, Charles (Laurie) Whiteford, Eric Whiteford, Kristin Whiteford and Sarah Mobley and great-grandchildren, Melia, Lily, Ruby, Sophia, Nolan and Graham.

Marilyn was the oldest of twelve children.  Madeline (Paul) Rosebrock, N.C., Melvin (Judy) Myers, Oakwood, Martin (Penny) Myers, AZ., Marion Myers, Napoleon,  Rollie (Judy) Myers, Oakwood, Bob (Gloria) Myers, Cecil, Marsha (Eddie) Shrider, MI., Keith (Pam) Myers, Oakwood, Roger Myers, Defiance and Jan (Mark)  Peck, New Reigel.

Marilyn graduated from Oakwood School in 1956 and was active in various music and band activities, including the school pianist.  She loved to cook, working many years in food service as well as cake decorating.  She was a die hard Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed years of watching her children and grandchildren participate in many sports activities. Marilyn was also a recognized local artist with many enjoying her flower gardens and her impressive floral paintings or beautiful painted eggs in their home.  She attended Rose Hill Church of God in Paulding.

She is preceded in death by her father and a brother, Eddie Myers.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday, August  9, 2013 at Schaffer Funeral Home,  Defiance.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013, at the funeral home with Rev. Ron Hofacker officiating.  Burial will follow in Sherman Cemetery.

The family suggest memorials be made to Rose Hill Church of God, Defiance Society of Artists or to a charity of the donor's choice.
