Marilyn Hazelton
Marilyn Jean Hazelton, 79, of Defiance, died suddenly Monday, July 13, 2015 in her home.
She was born in Defiance, Ohio on December 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Lavada (Moore) Dirr.
Marilyn was as a first and second grade teacher and chapter reading teacher at Defiance City Schools for 32 years retiring in 1992, After retirement she taught 15 years at Good Samaritan School and as substitute teacher. Marilyn was a life long resident of Defiance, a graduate of Defiance College and a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church.
Her pride and joy were her grandchildren. She loved following their activities.
On June 28, 1969 she married Charles W. Hazelton who died Sept. 8, 1979.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter Amy (Dave) Utendorf of Ottawa and
son Adam (Jamie) Hazelton of Defiance.
sister: Carolyn Yanchar of Cleveland, sister in law Jennie Hazelton of Continental and brother in law Robert (Joetta) Hazelton.
She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Caden Hazelton, Brock Hazelton, Izabel Utendorf and Anabel Utendorf.
She was preceded in death by her spouse Charles and her parents.
Services will be at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17th, with Rev. Stan Harmon officiating.
Friends are invited to call Thursday 2-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to Good Samaritan School or Holy Cross Catholic School.
