Marilyn J. Mehring, 85, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance.

She was born on July 25, 1930 to John and Beulah (Ice) Hahn in Defiance. On November 25, 1950 she married Nelson Mehring, who preceded her in death on June 29, 2010.

Marilyn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Defiance. She was a life member of VFW Auxiliary, and she was a Home Health Aide. Her philosophy was, "Take care of people, and take good care of them!"

Marilyn will be sadly missed by her daughter, Joan (Juan "Buggs") Sierra of Defiance, grandsons Michael (Fiance Marcela) Sierra and Eric (Megan) Sierra of Defiance, and great-grandsons Caleb Sierra, Peyton Sierra, and Elliot Sierra.

She was preceded in death by parents John and Beulah Hahn, husband Nelson Mehring, daughter Pam Mehring, brother Edsel Hahn, and sister Vivian Hahn.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Defiance, and for one hour prior to services on Friday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 3, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Defiance, with Rev. David Brobston officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
