Marie Catherine (Coder) Imber, 88, Defiance, Ohio died at 5:15 P:M Friday, July 24, 2009 in Community Health Partners Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice, rural Defiance. Marie was born January 19, 1921 on her grandparent's farm in Charloe, Ohio. The daughter of Earl Conrad Coder and Ollie (Devoe) Coder Scheuerman, she was a 1939 graduate of Defiance High School and briefly attended Kent Stat University. She married James D. Imber on June 24, 1943 at St. John's Catholic Church in Defiance, where she remained a member. She worked in retail for many years, retiring from Daoust Drug in the early '80s. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, gardening and playing games of all sorts. After retirement she and Jim spent many years in Florida, enjoying the sunshine, shelling and shuffle boarding. Her memberships included: Life Member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as a Past President, Business and Professional Women, and /alpha Zeta Beta Sorority. She was a former treasurer of the Defiance county Humane Society. Surviving are her children Barb Imber of Flint, Mi.: Steve (Linda) Imber and Judy Brown of Defiance, as well as her sister Clara Etta (Wilson) Steinberger of Sandusky, and a stepsister Lois (Scheuerman) Gahris of Defiance. Also surviving are her grandchildren Jay (Jennifer) Patterson) Imber and Kylee Imber, and Amanda (John) Adkins, all of Defiance. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Roy Scheuerman, stepbrother Bruce Scheuerman and her husband. Funeral services for Marie C. Imber will be held at 11:00 A:M on Wednesday, July 29 in St. John's Catholic Church, Defiance with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 29 from 2-8 P:M and from 9:30 - 10:30 A:M on Wednesday July 29 in the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, 1753 South Clinton St., Defiance, Ohio. Vigil services will be at 7:00 P:M Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials in the name of Marie C.
