Maria Victoria "Victoria" Lopez, age 95 of Defiance, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Saturday June 27, 2026 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born on July 19th, 1930 to Carlos Neira and Maria Victoria Fernandez in La Coruña, Spain. On September 6, 1952 she married Tomas Lopez in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Victoria immigrated from Spain to Argentina in 1952 when she married Tomas Lopez. They lived in Argentina for 21 years. In 1973 they immigrated from Argentina to the United States.
She was a very hard working woman, very strong and always willing to help others unselfishness. Victoria was an amazing cook. She enjoyed to cook for any occasion, gatherings, family and friends. Also, she loved traveling, gardening, and to cook! She will be missed by family, friends, and by so many that loved her.
Victoria is survived by her sons, Carlos (Adriana) Lopez, of Defiance and Tomas (Elizabeth) Lopez of Arizona; grandchildren, Sergio (Katie) Lopez, Diego (Nellymar) Lopez, Diandra (James) McGuire, Alfredo (Nicole) Lopez, Patricia (Amy) Rose; great-grandchildren, Pippa, Xavier, Finley Lopez, Jimmy, Charlie McGuine, Destiny (Devin Lewis), Damion (Devon) Lopez, Madeline Robertson, and Rylen Hoolbrook; and great-great grandchildren, Teresa and Nicohlas Lopez.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband Tomas Lopez; sisters Manola Montero and Mercedes Botana; and brothers Carlos and Alfonso Neira.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 am at St. John Catholic Church in Defiance, with Fr. David Cirata officiating. Victoria will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
