Obituary

Marguerite E.  Hancock, 82, of Defiance, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on May 20, 1933 to Waldo and Clara (Morgan) Williams in Putnam County, Ohio.  On January 31, 1953 she married Maurice Hancock, who resides in rural Defiance. Marguerite was a member of  St. Mark Lutheran Church. She was active in  W.E.L.C.A. and the church choir, and she was a voting precinct worker. Marguerite enjoyed her grandchildren, and baking and decorating cakes. Marguerite is survived by her loving spouse of 62 years, Maurice Hancock of Defiance, sons, David (Sharon) Hancock of Napoleon, Douglas (Debra) Hancock of Defiance, Dennis Hancock of Defiance, and Gary (Christina) Hancock of Stryker, daughter, Angela (Todd) Benz of Mead, Colorado, 12 Grandchildren, 10 Great-grandchildren, and brother, Virgil Williams of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Waldo and Clara Williams, sisters, Eleanor Noffsinger, Annabelle Feeney, Jeannie Wolfe, and grandson, Levi Hancock. Visitation will be held  from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 25950 Nagel Road, Defiance, with Pastor Robbie Ketcham officiating. Burial will follow at Evansport Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Mark Lutheran Church, Defiance Area Hospice Center, American Cancer Society, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
