Margaret Ann Schaffer, 83, of Defiance, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Twin Rivers Care & Rehabilitation Center.

Margaret was born May 25, 1931 in Defiance County, Highland Township. She was the daughter of Harvey and Marie (Rumschlag) Miller. In 1949 she married Donald C. Schaffer, who proceeded her in death in 1997.

Margaret lived in and around Defiance all her life. She graduated from the Warner's Beauty School in 1948. Margaret worked in various restaurants in Defiance,  All Star Products, Strydel in Stryker, and Highland Homes, where she retired in 1993.

Surviving are four sons, Robert Schaffer of Cecil, Ohio, James Schaffer of Florida, George (Ronda) Schaffer of Hicksville, Ohio, and Christopher (Patty) Schaffer of Bryan, Ohio. Two daughters, Judy (William) Ranes of Antwerp, Ohio, and Pamela (Richard) Spangler of Bryan, Ohio. Two brothers, William Miller of Defiance and Norman Miller of Arthur, a sister, Connie Sprouse of Paulding, Ohio, 12 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 9 step great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Marie Miller, a brother, Larry Miller, a sister, Norma Jean Siler, and her step-father Edward Prieur.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 30, 2014, with a Memorial Service at 3:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Per her wish, Margaret had donated her remains to Medical Science at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
